Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park & Mausoleum

Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum and memorial park is dedicated to the first president of Ghana, Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah, who led the struggle towards independence from colonial rule in March 1957.

It is situated on the site of the former British colonial polo grounds in Accra, where Nkrumah declared independence in 1957 and is now the final resting place of him and his wife, Fathia Nkrumah. The Mausoleum is in close proximity to the Accra Arts Center and directly the Commission for Human Rights and Administrative Justice(CHRAJ) which was formally the Parliament House.

The park which occupies about 5 acres of land with his beautifully designed memorial statue also holds a museum tracing his life, displaying items from his childhood, through his teenage years to his adult life.

The Mausoleum holds key artifacts of his life story and serves as the location that marked the transition of the name Gold Coast to Ghana.

Our trained professional guide will lead us into the mausoleum and tell us the complete story of Ghana's independence as well as show us some of his famous speeches and articles. We will also get the chance to see his desk and chair, pen, cloth and more of his pictures and videos.
